The teenage years bring a lot of changes, physically, emotionally, and socially, and navigating all of it can be a lot for both teens and their families. Teens have unique health needs that are different from those of younger children and different from those of adults, and they deserve care from a team that understands that. Whether it's a routine physical, a mental health concern, or something a teen isn't sure how to bring up at home, having a trusted place to go makes a real difference.
At Xpress Pediatrics, we offer teen health services for patients ages 13 through 21. Our team takes a whole-person approach to teen care, addressing both physical and mental health in a welcoming, non-judgmental environment. We understand that teens are more likely to open up and engage with their care when they feel respected and heard, and that's exactly what we aim to provide at every visit.
We're available at our Kensington and Pikesville locations 7 days a week with extended hours, and both walk-in and appointment options are available. Request an appointment online or walk in today.

Teens have a wide range of health needs, and our team is equipped to address both the everyday and the more sensitive ones. Here's what we offer through our teen health services at Xpress Pediatrics:
Regular physical exams are just as important for teens as they are for younger kids. Our team conducts thorough physical exams that include a review of growth and development, vision and hearing checks, and a conversation about any physical concerns your teen has been experiencing.
For teens who play sports, we also offer sports physicals to help clear them for participation and make sure they're in good shape to compete safely.
Mental health is a critical part of overall health, and it's something we take seriously at Xpress Pediatrics. We offer depression screenings and other mental health evaluations to help identify concerns early, before they become harder to manage. If your teen has been seeming withdrawn, struggling to keep up at school, losing interest in things they used to enjoy, or showing other signs that something might be off, it's worth coming in for a conversation. Early support can make a meaningful difference.
ADHD is commonly identified during childhood, but it's also frequently recognized for the first time during the teen years, especially as academic demands increase. Our team offers ADHD screenings for teens and can help with non-acute management and medication management for those who have already been diagnosed. If your teen is struggling with focus, organization, or keeping up at school, we can help evaluate what's going on and work with you on a plan.
We provide a safe, confidential space for teens to address questions and concerns about their sexual health, including STD screenings. We approach these visits with sensitivity and without judgment.
For teens who are managing ongoing health conditions and require prescription medications, our team can help with medication management. This includes routine monitoring, prescription refills, and making sure your teen's treatment plan is still working for them as they grow and change.
A parent or guardian is welcome to be present for any visit, and for patients under 18, we do require a parent or guardian to be involved in the check-in process. That said, we also understand that teens sometimes need a private moment with their provider to talk through things openly. Our team is happy to discuss what that looks like on a case-by-case basis so both parents and teens feel comfortable.
It helps to frame the visit as a judgment-free space where your teen is in charge of their own health story. Let them know they can bring up anything on their mind, and that your role is to support them, not monitor them. Our team is experienced in working with teens and knows how to put them at ease. Sometimes, just having a provider speak directly to them, rather than only to their parent, can make a big difference in how comfortable they feel.
At Xpress Pediatrics, we see patients from newborns through age 21, so your teen doesn't need to transition to an adult provider right away. We're able to continue providing care through early adulthood, which means less disruption during an already busy time of life. When the time does come to transition, our team can help make that process as smooth as possible.
Getting started is easy! You can request an appointment online or simply walk into either of our locations in KensingtonĀ or Pikesville.
We're open 7 days a week with extended hours, so there's always a time that works. We look forward to being a trusted part of your teen's care team!
